WOLF Announces NVIDIA NVLink 2.0 Option for 6U VPX Modules

Stouffville, ON -- December 8, 2020 - WOLF Advanced Technology (WOLF) is pleased to announce the upcoming availability of an NVIDIA® NVLink® 2.0 high-speed GPU interconnect option for select WOLF 6U VPX modules containing dual NVIDIA Quadro RTX™ 5000 GPUs. The NVLink option can reduce the latency of inter-GPU communications by enabling up to 50GB/s of bidirectional bandwidth between two NVIDIA Quadro GPU processors on the module. The added NVLink technology allows data processing to be dynamically distributed between the two GPUs with peer-to-peer memory addressing.

“We're seeing strong demand for processor and memory-intensive applications for C5ISR, autonomous vehicles and computer vision that will be greatly accelerated using a dual NVIDIA Quadro RTX 5000 combined with NVLink 2.0 technology," said Greg Maynard, CTO of WOLF.

"This module will be available in SOSA aligned or OpenVPX slot profiles," added Maynard, "and the converted video output options can include SDI, analog, STANAG 3350, and other output formats."

This product will feature WOLF's next-generation cooling design to maximize performance for extreme high-performance applications.

WOLF 6U VPX dual RTX 5000 modules include two NVIDIA Quadro RTX 5000 embedded GPUs based on the NVIDIA Turing™ architecture and a WOLF FGX for video conversion and processing. The RTX 5000 includes NVIDIA CUDA® cores for visualization and compute, RT Cores for real-time ray tracing, and Tensor Cores for accelerated AI inference and training. The WOLF FGX provides video conversion to formats that are not native to the GPU, such as SDI, STANAG 3350, and other digital and analog formats.

The WOLF 6U VPX module will meet the standards required by aerospace and federal applications including MIL-STD-810 environmental tests and is being manufactured to IPC-A-610 CLASS 3 and IPC 6012 CLASS 3 for high-reliability electronic products and IPC J-STD-001 soldering standards. This module is designed to operate within a temperature range of -40° to +85°C with a maximum operating power that can be configured to meet SWaP requirements. Conformal coating options are available (e.g., Parylene, Humiseal, others on request) to further protect boards that operate in harsh environments.
