WOLF-N1D0

Development platform for WOLF VNX+ modules (N4XP and N180), Mini‑ITX form factor, numerous I/O connectors.

Overview

WOLF-N1D0

VNX+ Development Platform for WOLF-N4XP and WOLF-N180

The VNXP-DEV-IO (WOLF-N1D0) is a development platform designed to evaluate and validate WOLF VNX+ modules, including the VNXP-ORIN-NX (WOLF-N4XP) compute module and the VNXP-FGX2-VIO (WOLF-N180) video I/O module. With two VNX+ module sites, it enables side-by-side bring-up of paired compute + video configurations and end-to-end I/O testing in a bench environment.

The platform follows a Micro ATX form factor and is delivered in a universal open-frame chassis, making it easy to integrate into lab workflows. Edge connectors and breakouts expose key interfaces—including video I/O, networking, USB, and other control/debug connections—so engineers can quickly attach displays, sensors, and test equipment without custom harnessing.

A high-speed PCIe fabric routes data between both VNX+ modules and supports realistic system topologies during development. In addition, upstream PCIe expansion slots allow endpoint add-in cards to be installed for prototyping, interoperability checks, and throughput characterization prior to deployment in rugged embedded systems.

FAQ

WOLF-N1D0 (VNXP-DEV-IO) is a bench development and validation platform for WOLF VNX+ modules—specifically the WOLF-N4XP (compute) and WOLF-N180 (video I/O).

It is intended to:

  • Speed up bring-up by exposing module I/O on accessible connectors
  • Enable side-by-side evaluation of paired compute + video topologies using two VNX+ module sites
  • Support lab characterization (I/O validation, throughput checks, interoperability, debug)

It is not intended to be the deployed rugged embedded endpoint. For deployment, you typically transition to the target VNX+/system carrier/mechanical integration once I/O and software are validated.

It enables realistic paired-module workflows without custom harnessing:

  • Mount WOLF-N4XP and WOLF-N180 together to validate end-to-end video ingest → processing → output
  • Exercise PCIe data movement between modules on a high-speed fabric
  • Validate connectorization, cabling, and I/O behavior in a controlled bench setup

In other words, it lets you prototype the system topology (compute + video) before you invest in a deployment-specific carrier or mechanical design.

Common high-value checks include:

  • I/O smoke test: verify that video, network, USB, and control/debug interfaces enumerate and behave as expected via the breakouts
  • Compute + I/O pipeline test: run a representative ingest/processing/encode/display workflow using the intended modules
  • PCIe topology validation: confirm expected lane negotiation, endpoint enumeration, and stability under load
  • Interoperability: install PCIe add-in cards in the upstream slots (as applicable) to verify compatibility and bandwidth behavior

This is the stage where you want to find cable/connector assumptions, driver issues, and PCIe topology surprises—before committing to rugged packaging.

Development platforms are typically ordered as configuration-driven items rather than fixed “one part number = one I/O map” products.

Ordering variables typically include:

  • Which VNX+ modules are being validated (WOLF-N4XP, WOLF-N180, or both)
  • Desired I/O breakout usage and any lab harnessing considerations
  • Any PCIe add-in card interoperability needs
