WOLF-14R6

3U VPX RTM for WOLF-1448/1538 with DisplayPort/HDMI/DVI and SDI, optional daughterboard adds analog RGB outputs

Overview

WOLF-14R6

3U VPX RTM for WOLF-1448 and WOLF-1538 Video I/O

The VPX3U-RTM-VIO (WOLF-14R6) is a 3U VPX rear transition module designed to mate with the WOLF-1448 and WOLF-1538 payload modules and route their video interfaces to rear-panel connectors for chassis integration.

The standard main board provides a mix of rear video connections, including five general-purpose video outputs suitable for DisplayPort, HDMI, or DVI signaling (configuration dependent), along with two SDI outputs and one SDI input to support ingest and distribution of SDI video alongside GPU-native display links.

For MCOTS configurations, an optional daughterboard can be added to expand rear I/O with an additional SDI input and four analog RGB outputs, implemented through discrete BNC RGB connectors or via an RGB-over-network style interface, enabling retrofit support for legacy display infrastructures while preserving the same RTM footprint.

Block Diagram

The block diagram shows a 3U VPX RTM for WOLF GPU video-output modules (e.g., 1448/1538), highlighting the routing of multiple DP/HDMI/DVI-class outputs and SDI I/O to rear connectors. It also highlights the optional daughterboard expansion path used to add additional I/O (e.g., analog RGB) for MCOTS configurations.

FAQ

WOLF-14R6 is a 3U VPX RTM designed to mate with WOLF-1448 and WOLF-1538 payload modules to route their video interfaces to rear connectors.

You add this RTM when you want:

  • Rear-cabled video egress for maintainability
  • Cleaner front-panel layout on payload slots
  • A consistent chassis-level video connector strategy across multiple payloads

Base RTM capability includes:

  • 5 video outputs suitable for DisplayPort/HDMI/DVI signaling (configuration dependent)
  • 2 SDI outputs
  • 1 SDI input

Optional daughterboard (MCOTS) can add:

  • 1 additional SDI input
  • 4 analog RGB outputs (via BNC RGB connectors or RGB-over-network style interface)

Early decision: whether you need the MCOTS daughterboard is usually driven by legacy display infrastructure requirements.

Prioritize:

  • Payload/RTM mapping: confirm which payload video links map to which rear connectors
  • Connector strategy: DP/HDMI/DVI interoperability plan, plus SDI connectorization and cable type
  • Legacy expansion need: if analog RGB is required, validate daughterboard approach and harnessing early
  • Service interfaces: RS-232, NVMRO, I2C, and JTAG access expectations for bring-up/support

For multi-video-output systems, the mapping and harness are typically the critical path.

RTM ordering commonly depends on:

  • Base RTM vs optional daughterboard population
  • The intended mix of DP/HDMI/DVI and SDI usage
  • Any MCOTS connectorization or labeling requirements
