Overview

WOLF-16T0

NVIDIA IGX Thor + ConnectX-7 + FGX2 Secure SBC for C5ISR

The VPX3U-THOR-CX7-FGX2-SBC module is a SOSA-aligned 3U VPX secure compute node for demanding C5ISR applications, integrating NVIDIA IGX Thor, an NVIDIA ConnectX-7 SmartNIC, and the WOLF FGX2 FPGA for video formats that are not native to the Thor SoC.

Accelerated by the embedded Blackwell GPU and 128 GB ECC LPDDR5X, the platform is specified at 2070 FP4 TFLOPS of AI compute for deep learning inference, machine vision, sensor fusion, robotics, and data processing. ConnectX-7 provides secure, high-speed network transfer and a configurable PCIe switch with RoCE, GPUDirect Storage, and ASAP2 offloads.

Block Diagram

The block diagram shows NVIDIA IGX Thor connected to ConnectX-7 and a WOLF FGX2 video I/O subsystem. It highlights (1) the PCIe path between Thor and ConnectX-7, (2) the backplane PCIe/Ethernet options (PCIe Gen4 x4 with optional 40/100GBASE-KR4, or PCIe Gen4 x8 configurable to x4+x4), (3) dual 10/25GBASE-KR, plus (4) video I/O paths through FGX2 for SDI/CVBS and display output (DP MST / HDMI).

FAQ

Choose WOLF-16T0 when you need mission video I/O that is not native to the Thor platform, in addition to SmartNIC networking.

This is typically the right fit when:

  • You need SDI-class video ingest/output through FGX2
  • You want Thor compute plus ConnectX-7 fabric connectivity on the same SBC
  • You want compute + networking + video I/O in one slot to reduce module count

FGX2 provides video I/O and format handling that the base compute complex does not provide natively.

It is most valuable when:

  • You need SDI input/output integrated on the SBC
  • You want tighter coupling between capture/output and the GPU pipeline
  • You want to avoid a separate video I/O payload card for SDI-class interfaces

Confirm these early:

  • SBC slot profile: 14.2.16
  • Backplane configuration: PCIe Gen4 x4 plus optional 40/100GBASE-KR4, or PCIe Gen4 x8 (may bifurcate) depending on build
  • Backplane Ethernet: two 10/25GBASE-KR links
  • Front/Rear I/O expectations for video: DP MST/HDMI plus SDI/CVBS via FGX2
  • Any optional I/O (CAN, additional routing) is configuration dependent

The key ordering-time choices are mainly about how you integrate networking + video I/O:

  • ConnectX-7 fabric configuration: PCIe Gen4 x8 (may bifurcate) vs PCIe Gen4 x4 + 40/100GBASE-KR4 affects backplane topology and bandwidth planning
  • FGX2 video I/O configuration: determines SDI/CVBS channel mix and any enabled options (video I/O is configuration dependent)
  • Display output configuration: DP MST vs HDMI and how that output is routed in the chassis
  • Optional interfaces: 2.5GBASE-T with TSN, CAN, and other I/O depend on configuration and drive rear harnessing
